Goth truly is the Post Punk Movement. To name a specific event and time when the Goth Subculture was born, many have claimed that Bauhaus is the culprit that officially planted the seed for growth of the Goth Subculture with their song “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” which wad released in 1979.
The First generation of Goth Bands didn’t actually define themselves as Goth, the press gave that definition to them. Goth Music, as defined by the press as a new breed of mysterious and theatrical artists, fascinated by romanticism and morose and taboo things. The music itself was heavily inspired to post-punk and glam rock, and it was characterized by tribal drums, prominent bass lines and eerie guitars with reverb and chorus effects to rule the songs.
